چکیده

In this short paper, we present some new results for the problem of motion estimation under orthographic projection. We refine some basic results obtained by previous researchers and provide more detailed and precise results. We shbw that, in the two-view problem, when the rotation is around the optical axis, the motion (but not the structure) is uniquely determined. We show that, in the three-view problem, only under certain conditioHs are the motion and structure uniquely determined. We show that, for any motion problem, if two-view matching cannot determine the motion, only under certain conditions can threeor multiview matching help.

Optical Camera Tracking in Virtual Studios: Degenerate Cases

Over the past few years, virtual studios applications have significantly attracted the attention of the entertainment in dustry. Optical tracking systems for virtual sets produc tion have become particularly popular tending to substitute electro-mechanical ones. In this work, an existing optical tracking system [IJ is revisited, in order to tackle with inher ent degenerate cases; namely, red...

Identification of Riccati dynamics under perspective and orthographic observations

In this paper, the problem of identifying motion and shape parameters of a planar object undergoing a Riccati motion, from the associated optical flow generated on the image plane of a single CCD camera, has been studied. The optical flow is generated by projecting feature points on the object onto the image plane via perspective and orthographic projections. Riccati dynamics is to be viewed as...

Lines in One Orthographic and Two Perspective Views

In this paper we introduce a linear algorithm to recover the Euclidean motion between an orthographic and two perspective cameras from straight line correspondences filling the gap in the analysis of motion estimation from line correspondences for various projection models. The general relationship between lines in three views is described by the trifocal tensor [2]. Euclidean structure from mo...

Recursive Estimation of Motion, Structure, and Focal Length

We present a formulation for recursive recovery of motion, pointwise structure, and focal length from feature correspondences tracked through an image sequence. In addition to adding focal length to the state vector, several representational improvements are made over earlier structure from motion formulations, yielding a stable and accurate estimation framework which applies uniformly to both ...

Resolution of the Bas-relief ambiguity in structure-from-motion under orthographic projection

Under orthographic projection, two views of a rigid moving object are insufficient to uniquely determine the structure and motion of the object, due to the existence of the bas-relief ambiguity. Resolution of this ambiguity relies upon either prior information about the motion of the object, or else further views of the object. Two novel algorithms to resolve the bas-relief ambiguity are develo...
